A natural gas earthquake
shut-off valve automatically shuts off your
gas service when an earthquake of a sufficient
magnitude occurs at your home's location. These
valves have been mandatory in Los Angeles for
many years, and insurance companies, including
Allstate are now making these devices a pre-requisite
to insurance.
The device must be approved by UL and the state
of California and is required to prevent the
bigger danger of fire and explosions that often
follow a major quake.
Don't wait for hindsight or mandates. I've
researched many manufacturers and can help you
decide before you buy. |
